GOOD NEWS: March set as date to erect fence to protect geese

A contractor has been appointed by the Ekurhuleni Metro to start re-erecting the fence around the Leon Ferreira Fire Station.

This is according to the Metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, who reacted to concerns about when the fence will be erected to protect the geese and ducks at the dam, on the fire station property.

“The contractor visited the site on February 6 and all the project managers were made aware of the level of importance of this project and that it should be given first priority when it comes to fencing projects,” he said.

“The indication is that the contractor should be on the site in early March to start with the work.”

During September, last year, Ward 22's Clr Benno Robinson said the funds to repair the fence around the dam at the fire station hade eventually, after two years, been obtained.

“The funds are sufficient to span a 1.4km clear-view fence around the area – the same type of fence that was put up around the fire station a while back,” he added.

Robinson also said, at the time, that the geese at the dam have become a special landmark for Boksburg.
