Street lights shine brightly…during the day

A Boksburg resident was under the impression that the metro would lead the way in saving electricity, due to load shedding which has hit the entire country.

But she has noticed that street lights in Willow and Acacia roads have recently been burning all day long.

“We are struggling with load shedding, yet they leave streets light burning all day,” said the resident, who wished to remain anonymous.

Ekurhuleni Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe said the street lights are switched on throughout the day due to the temporary consumer supply connected from the streetlights circuit.

“This situation will be normalised as soon as the faulty cable is repaired,” said Gadebe.

He added that the metro’s operations and maintenance personnel have indicated that they are working on it.
