Three men, suspected of robbing people on the Albertina Sisulu freeway, were arrested at the Leon Ferreira Fire Station, by EMPD officers, on Tuesday morning.
The suspects were driving in a Quantum minibus when they were seen by EMPD officers.
“Our members spotted and followed a minibus, fitting the description we received, at the corner of North Rand and Guilder roads,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
“As police approached, the slow moving Quantum drove into the fire station.
“Officers then spotted objects being thrown out of the minibus.”
One of the objects was a loaded 9mm Z88 pistol with the serial numbers filed off.
“Officers searched the vehicle and found a travelling bag full of cosmetics, cigarettes, baby food and a woman’s outfit.” said Mokheseng.
The trio were taken to the Boksburg North SAPS, where they were charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of suspected stolen goods.
