Apply for a scholarship at CBC

Christian Brothers' College annually awards a certain number of scholarships to pupils who have achieved remarkably well in academics and sports.

Applications for such bursaries are now open.

According to CBC marketing officer Teresa O’Donoghue, if the application is granted, scholarships are awarded to boys who will enter Grade Eight in 2016 and who are presently in Grade Seven.

*Academic Scholarship: A boy must have achieved an overall aggregate of at least 75 per cent in Grade Six for 2014, in order to be invited to write the exam. He will need to have demonstrated a consistently high academic ability, which will equip him to cope with the academic programme followed by the college.

*Sport Scholarship: Trials will be held at the college for cricket and rugby candidates, and boys must have played for their school’s A team in either or both sports. A recommendation from the head of sport at the school must be obtained.

“If a boy has excelled in a sport other than cricket or rugby, the application form makes provision for that. Again, a recommendation from the school head of sport coach must be submitted,” said O’Donoghue.

“In the case of swimmers, their times should be included in the recommendation.

”Also, a recommendation from the school will be obtained regarding a boy’s academic potential to enter Grade Eight in 2016.”Parents of qualifying learners may email marketing1@cbc.co.za for more information, or to request a scholarship application form.

“The closing date for applications is on Tuesday, February 24. – @NalediBoksburg
