Stage 2 load shedding; follow metro’s schedule
Eskom has implemented load shedding in stage 2 in some areas due to high demand or urgent maintenance being performed at certain power stations.
The Ekurhuleni Metro is currently implementing load shedding until further notice.
The municipality is therefore implementing loadshedding as per the current schedules available on the local authority’s website.
Stage 2 allows for up to 2000 MW of the national load to be shed.
In the meantime, DA leader in Parliament Mmusi Maimane said on Wednesday, February 5, during a DA-held protest that the government should allow other power producers to compete and end Eskom’s monopoly.
The protest was held against rolling blackouts outside Eskom’s head office in Megawatt Park, Johannesburg.
He stressed the need for independent power producers and the DA’s call for the end to nuclear power deals.
