‘Jealous ex’ allegedly sets house on fire

A jealous ex-girlfriend has been accused of burning down the house of her former lover, on January 26.

According to police, the person suspected of causing the fire in Mapleton Ext 12, Boksburg, is on the loose.

“A case of arson has been opened,” confirmed Dawn Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala.

According to the owner of the house, Tryphina Mukwevho, the person responsible is an ex-girlfriend of her husband, Makgabo Mabapa.

“I was busy doing my laundry when the ex-girlfriend came into my house, at around 11am, and demanded appliances she claims she bought.”

She added that the ex-girlfriend was very aggressive and entered the house with force.

“I managed to escape and asked my neighbours for help. Shortly afterwards my house was set on fire,” said Mukwevho.

All of her belongings were burnt, including her food.

No one was hurt.
