Forbes insists he acted in self-defense

David Forbes, the promoter and owner of popular annual H20 Party, spent another night in jail after his second court appearance on Tuesday.

His formal bail application continues today.

According to media reports, his lawyers made final arguments for his bail application in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court, and he is expected back in court today to hear the outcome of his bail application.

The state is apparently not opposing bail.

Forbes is accused of killing Toefiq Joseph in the parking lot of the Engen garage in Orange Street, Cape Town, apparently following an altercation, on Saturday afternoon, January 24.

It was reported that Forbes, who has a stab wound on his wrist, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Joseph. He claims that he was threatened and acted in self-defense.

He was on the scene waiting for the police to arrive following the shooting.
