Delivery vehicle robbed of R300 000 worth of cigarettes

A driver of a delivery vehicle was robbed of cigarettes as he was making a delivery to a spaza shop in Villa Lisa, today (Wednesday, January 21).

The driver told the police that he was busy offloading boxes of cigarettes, at about 8.30am, when he was confronted by three men.

They forced him to drive to nearby bushes.

“Upon arriving at the bushes, the thieves jumped into the back of the kombi, and loaded cigarettes worth approximately R300 000 into their vehicle,” said Capt Charles Tshabalala, a spokesperson for the Dawn Park SAPS.

“The trio fled the scene. It is unclear if the thugs had firearms. Nobody was hurt in the incident.”

Dawn Park SAPS are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
