Attempted housebreaking caught on camera

An Atlasville resident recently captured CCTV footage of robbers trying to break into his home.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, installed a CCTV camera at his property after suspecting that there were people attempting to rob his house.

Prior to installing the cameras, he suspected that people were shooting pellet guns at his windows, possibly to check if there was someone in the house.

“I’m not sure if that’s the modus operandi, but I could hear constant ticking against the windows, and it was not just the windows cooling down,” he said.

The video footage shows a car pulling up in his driveway, and one of the occupants jumping out and running towards the gate.

The car then drives away leaving the man to scale the front gate.

The resident said his garage door was open and maybe the man was hoping to get into the house through it.

“The guy probably ran away when he noticed me outside the house,” said the resident.

The video footage then shows the same vehicle speeding past to pick up their accomplice.

The Advertiser asked the Boksburg North SAPS what should residents do when they think their homes might be under attack, but at the time of going to print, no comment had been received.
