Blue light gang in police uniform hijacks car

There are reports that a blue light gang could be on the loose in Boksburg.

A Golf 7 was allegedly hijacked on the night of January 14, reportedly by occupants of a black Golf fitted with blue lights and wearing police uniforms.

Boksburg North SAPS communication officer Lieut Juanita Coetzer said: “Allegedly, the hijacked vehicle was followed by a black VW Golf which had a blue light in it.”

She added that, according to the statement of the complainant, he was pulled off by a Metro Police member, dressed in full metro uniform.

The driver claimed he was dropped off between Leondale and Windmill Park by the hijackers, and was reported to have got home safely.

Coetzer said that the police are investigating a case of hijacking, but she sounded a warning about people opening false hijacking cases.

She said the police recently arrested a truck driver for perjury, after he had lied to the police about being hijacked by a person dressed in Metro Police in uniform.
