Man critically injured in explosion

A man (31) is in a critical condition after sustaining serious burns in an explosion yesterday, January 8, in Jet Park.

A 31-year-old man is in a critical condition after an explosion in Jet Park, on Friday morning, January 9.

It is understood the man was standing beside a colleague who was at the time switching off a transformer.

According to ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing, an explosion occurred and oil from the transformer apparently sprayed on his body.

He sustained serious burns.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found the man outside with colleagues around him, providing first aid.

ER24’s AER24 medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to a hospital in Johannesburg.

His colleague sustained superficial burn wounds.

He was assessed on the scene, but he declined to be transported to hospital.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
