Songs from the movies provide for great entertainment at Barnyard

C Sharp Music Academy students shone during their ‘Songs from movies’ concert staged at The Barnyard Theatre, Emperors Palace, on Saturday, November 1.

This was the academy’s 15th annual concert for its students.

Each student shone in their own right on The Barnyard stage and performed like true Hollywood stars. The energy in the theatre was electrifying with the audience singing along and cheering for their favourite movie songs.

The past four years the academy hosted the show at the Boksburg Barnyard Theatre and had two shows on Saturday in order to accommodate its growing audience.

Before the big day, students had the opportunity to visit a recording studio where they got the experience of recording their songs onto an album.

Most of the children had movements choreographed for them on their songs and the majority of the students enjoyed the support of back-up dancers (from Dynamic Dance Studio in Rynfield).

“The aim with this concert is to give my students the opportunity to showcase what they learn over the years of attending C Sharp and to perform on a proper stage with all the trimmings that the professionals enjoy – such as dancers, costumes, professional lighting, sound and DVD recording,” says Lizette de Klerk from C Sharp Music Academy.

“The Barnyard is a fantastic and intimate venue and besides giving the children that amazing opportunity to perform on a proper stage. It creates a very relaxed atmosphere for the audience from whom we received very positive feedback again this year.”

Every year the academy also invites a few children’s homes from all over the East Rand to attend the 10am show.
