Women found guilty of assault

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Anele Dubula (21) and Akhona Dubula (26), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of assault.

They pleaded not-guilty on October 10, were found guilty and sentenced on October 22. The magistrate postponed the passing of sentence for five years.

On July 19, the women assaulted Keith Makeke by hitting him.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Themba Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Patricia Ndlovu (22), a Zimbabwean national from Orange Farm, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

She pleaded guilty and was found guilty on May 6, 2013, and sentenced on October 21 to three years imprisonment.

On April 24, 2013, the accused stole six pairs of shoes from Ackermans, to the value of R600.

She had previous convictions of theft from July 2002, February 2003, January 2004, July 2006, June 2009 and December 2011.

* Sabelo John Mthethua (29) and Bongimkosi Selepe (32), from Katlehong, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

They pleaded guilty and were found guilty on May 26 and sentenced on October 21, to R3 000 or nine months imprisonment.

On May 11, the men stole two pairs of Guess jeans, to the value of R1 200, from Edgars.

* Victor Achuku (39), a Nigerian national from Windmill Park, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on October 21, to R3 000 or nine months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On August 24, the accused assaulted Myik Nkuna by hitting and kicking her.

* Sello Thoora (27), from Katlehong, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 9, and sentenced on October 21 to three years imprisonment.

On August 31, the accused stole 17 air fresheners, to the value of R425, from Shoprite.

He had previous convictions of theft from November 2008, February 2009, September 2011 and November 2012.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Themba Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Linda Mbangula (24), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

She pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 23, and sentenced on October 21 to three years imprisonment.

On September 5, the accused stole clothes, to the value of R700 from Truworths.

She had previous convictions of theft from October 2010 and March 2013, and a conviction of possession of drugs from July 2013.
