Boksburg entrance to get exciting revamp

The current refurbishment of the East Rand Galleria into the new East Point, will include a new pavement and entrance for Boksburg.

This is according to the Eurocom media consultant, Mellisa Verhave.

“The pylon structure (fountain) on the corner of Northrand and Rietfontein roads will be refurbished and rebranded in line with the new identity of East Point, while also supporting an innovative electronic signage installation.”

“The public fountain has long been known as a landmark to the area, but has unfortunately fallen into disrepair and neglect in the last few years.

“The old fountain and pump house will be demolished and replaced with new landscaping features to provide the area with a much-needed revamp, and assist with clearing the area of vagrants and crime clusters,” she says.

Earlier this year, the East Rand Galleria announced its R411-million renovation to change the look and refresh its retail-base.

Verhave adds that the overall design will compliment other Ekurhuleni metro public landscaping installations in the greater area, and refresh the precinct with improved public recreation zones, while ridding the area of crime pockets.

“The existing palisade fence to the centre will be replaced with a brand new Clear-Vu fence that will open the vista of the centre, and create a fresh façade far removed from the cluttered corner that residents are currently familiar with.

“The revamp will take place in phases to minimise disruption to shoppers. Both the mall and Pick n Pay will trade throughout the ambitious 18-month project,” she says.
