Donated car seats boosts children’s safety

More than 60 car seats were dropped off at the East Rand Mall on Friday, October 3, as part of the Car Seats for Kids campaign.

The campaign is a joined venture between Imperial and Highfeld Stereo, 947’s Breakfast Xpress team.

Drop-off points for the seats were set up across Gauteng.

The campaign highlights the importance of child safety during October, which is also Transport Month.

“Transport safety is our main concern and our core focus is on the road.

“A lot of people benefit from this campaign, because some people cannot afford car seats while some don’t even know how important it is to strap a child in. We, therefore, use the campaign to educate people,” said Imperial marketing co-coordinator Mpho Maisa.

Peggie Mars, founder of Wheel Well added that the campaign is to keep children safe in vehicles, because accidents are the biggest cause of deaths.

“Most parents cannot afford to buy car seats. We, therefore, take old car seats and clean them to make sure they are safe.”
