Gouw’s Boerewors wows judges at local semis

The Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors competition continued on September 13, at Bokkie Park, Boksburg, with eleven hopeful contestants sent home.

During the first round, 1 000 hopeful boerewors-experts entered the competition, but only 79 of them remained standing after facing their competitors in tough regional rounds that took place countrywide during the month of August.

These regional winners faced each other again in the semi-final rounds, which took place at the same time in 10 different regions on September 13.

Gauteng, with most entries received, hosted two provincial rounds – one in Randburg and another in Boksburg.

Top food experts from the South African Chefs Association (SACA) judged in the provincial rounds.

In Boksburg, Marthinus Gouws made it through to the finals.

All 10 provincial winners will enjoy a fun-filled weekend at Sun City where they join the other finalists for this year’s final in October.

In Sun City, the champion will not only walk away with the sought after Championship Boerewors title, but also drive away in a brand-new Toyota Hilux 2.7 double-cab raised body Raider. – @FanieBoksburg
