Alert officers find stolen car at Boksburg Lake

A routine patrol at the Boksburg Lake on Tuesday, September 16, led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, which was stolen from the victim’s home in Reiger Park.

The grey Opel Corsa Lite was recovered within hours after it was stolen.

According to the two police officers, Const Dibueng Chou and Const Lucky Ntimbana, who made the discovery while on patrol, they noticed the awkwardly-parked, suspicious vehicle at the lake, just after 6am.

“We became very suspicious and then decided to investigate,” says Chou.

To their surprise, according to the state auto theft computer records, the vehicle in question was not reported as a stolen vehicle.

The officers still remained suspicious and decided to investigate the matter further. They obtained the physical address of the person whom, according to their record, the vehicle belongs to.

“We questioned him about the unattended vehicle, and he told us that he sold the vehicle a while ago to his uncle, who resides in Reiger Park at the Flats section.

“The owner, James Jantjies, was contacted who confirmed he was already at the Reiger Park SAPS filing a theft of motor vehicle case.”

Jantjies believes that thieves stole his car while he was at church during a night prayer.

“I am very proud of the two police officers. This is quite exceptional work. We need more dedicated police officers like them. May the Lord bless and protect them.” – @FanieBoksburg
