Provincial rounds for SA’s top boerewors around the corner

More than 1 000 hopeful boerewors-experts entered the 2014 Shoprite Checkers Championship Boerewors Competition, but only 79 boerewors experts remain standing after facing their competitors in tough regional rounds that took place countrywide during August.

These regional winners will now face each other once again in provincial rounds to determine which 10 will go to Sun City in October, in a final effort to win the admired boerewors title.

All 10 provincial rounds take place on September 13.

Gauteng, with most entries received, will host two provincial rounds – one in Greymont (Randburg) and another in Boksburg.

In each province, contestants will bring and braai the boerewors they entered into the competition.

Top food experts from the South African Chefs Association (SACA) will judge the provincial rounds.

All provincial winners will also enjoy a fun-filled weekend at Sun City where they join the other finalists for this year’s grand finale on October 4.

The Shoprite Checkers Boerewors Champion will not only walk away with the sought after title, but also drive away in a brand-new Toyota Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body Raider.

All entrants, supporters and Championship Boerewors enthusiasts are invited to share their excitement in searching for South Africa’s number one boerewors, by using #SAsNo1 in online conversations.
