R5000 worth of drugs seized in Reiger Park raid

Members of the K9 Unit stormed the pair’s house after receiving a tip-off from members of the public.

Upon searching the house they found 51 packets of Cat and cocaine, along with two packets of dagga in the bedroom. Police officers also seized the R2 084 cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

The suspects were both charged with dealing in drugs and were expected to appear in court soon.

According to Sgt Mashudu Phathela, spokesperson for the Reiger Park SAPS, the anonymous tipster told the police that the woman’s boyfriend is allegedly one of the biggest and well-known gang members in the township.

The recent alarming rise in the rate of crime has prompted the Gauteng police to put the township under police lockdown.

Members of the POPS, K9, TRT, crime intelligence and EMPD carry out crime operations regularly.

“We are now reaping the fruits of our recently launched anti-crime awareness campaign, ‘Enough is Enough’ or ‘Genoeg is Genoeg’,” says Phathela. – @FanieBoksburg
