Court news: thieves sentenced

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Glen Chitmbe (29), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on June 23 and was sentenced on August 14, to 18 months imprisonment.

On June 12, the accused stole a pot, to the value of R359, from Daisy Chitmbe.

He had previous convictions of possession of drugs dating from February 2007, and theft from February 2014.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided and Thomas Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Phumlani Masisela (20), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on July 22 and was sentenced on August 14, to 24 months imprisonment.

On May 1, the accused stole two cellphones, to the value of R3 000, from Eva Mhlongo.

He had previous convictions of theft, dating from December 2008 and January 2012.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided and Thomas Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Wonderboy Nhleko (45) and Erasmus Madonsela (32) appeared in court on a charge of theft.

They pleaded not guilty on July 28, were found guilty on July 31 and sentenced on August 19, to 36 months imprisonment, of which 18 months were suspended for five years.

On June 28, the men stole one 10m Transnet cable, to the value of R3 000.

Nhleko has previous convictions, of theft dating from March 2006 and possession of suspected stolen property from December 2008.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided and Thomas Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Kollen Dhlamini (18), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of domestic violence.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty on July 16 and sentenced on August 14, to 12 months imprisonment.

On July 6 the accused contravened a protection order, which prohibited him from assaulting the applicant, when he hit Thambisile Dhlamini with his fist.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided and Thomas Maluleke appeared on behalf of the State.

* Dirk Guy Fuller (61), from Witfield, appeared in court on a charge of sexual assault.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty and sentenced on August 15, to R80 000 or four years imprisonment, of which R60 000 or three years imprisonment was suspended for five years.

The accused also has to undergo psychological treatment for a year and his name will be entered into the National Sexual Offenders Register.

On February 2, the accused sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl by inappropriately kissing her neck and rubbing between her legs.
