Natalspruit Hospital moves to new facility in Vosloorus

The old Natalspruit Hospital is being relocated from Katlehong to its new Natalspruit facility in Vosloorus.

The newly-built 821 bed regional hospital, will officially open on August 28.

Among others, the facility will offer services such as family medicine, 24-hour casualty; medico-legal; obstetric and gynaecology; ophthalmology; a mortuary, radiography and an eye nose an throat clinic.

The hospital also has four operating theatres.

The new hospital will take referrals from clinics, community healthcare centres and district hospitals from Katlehong, Vosloorus, Thokoza, Magugala Heights, Zonkizikwe, Phola Park, Palm Ridge, Eden Park, Germiston and Leondale.

The old Natalspruit Hospital will no longer be taking walk-in patients. In the interim, patients are requested not to come to the hospital, but to approach or visit their nearest healthcare facilities, such as the Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston; Pholosong Hospital in Tsakane; Far East-Rand Hospital in Springs; Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg and Heidelberg Hospital.

About 500 patients are being migrated to the new facility by internal and external departments to ensure that patient care and health services are not compromised.

Where required, the hospital staff will accompany patients in the buses and ambulances, while nursing staff and physicians will accompany ICU patients and high-risk patients, respectively.

Once patients have been moved from the the old hospital, the Department of Infrastructure will take over the facility and implement the demolision plan. – @CarmenBoksburg
