Child’s body found on mine dump rumoured to be baby Cuburne

The body of a toddler was found in a mine dump in Reiger Park on Saturday, August 9.

According to Col Noxolo Kweza, SAPS provincial spokesperson, she cannot confirm if the body is that of Cuburne van Wyk, who went missing in Ramaphosa on August 6 at 4pm.

“We are still waiting on the DNA tests to confirm the identity of the child.”

There have been speculations surrounding the state of the child’s body when it was discovered.

These include the child’s face being “hit” and his genitalia being removed.

Col Kweza says that she cannot comment on the state of the child’s body when it was discovered.

Similar to Advertiser’s reported news last week on Cuburne, Sapa also reported that police were looking for 25-year-old Katleho Phoku known as “Chicken” in the case of the child who’s body was found.

The Advertiser was told last week that Cuburne was last seen with Chicken, who they think could help with the investigation into the Cuburne disappearance. – @CarmenBoksburg
