Boksburg mining consultant buys Pistorius’s home

The house in which Oscar Pistorius had killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day last year, has allegedly been sold to a Boksburg mining consultant for R4.5-million.

Louwtjie Louwrens is now the new owner of the four-bedroom luxury home that is situated in the Silverwoods Country Estate in Pretoria.

“It stood empty for more than a year and there is some water damage, so we would first have to repair it,” Louwrens told The Times.

When the renovations are completed, he apparently intends to rent it out for now.

Louwrens is married and has a son and daughter.

He is planning to move into the murder-accused’s former home with his family after his wife retires, which will be within the following two years.

He also mentioned that the house is in a safe area and that everyone he dealt with was very professional.

Earlier this year the paralympian’s lawyers announced that he wanted to sell the house in order for him to raise the necessary funds to cover his increasing legal fees for his murder trial.

Pistorius had previously claimed that the house was worth R5-m – more than what it has now been sold for.

The home had been on the market for a couple of months, but no buyers were interested.

It was initially priced at R6.5-m when the house was on the market in 2011. – @IschkeBoksburg
