During July 14 to 21, members of the EMPD fined 170 motorists for driving without their driver’s licence.

“Three vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy and 72 fines were issued for registration and licensing,” says Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

He adds that 21 fines were issued for moving violations, which included operating a vehicle with defective brakes, disobeying red traffic lights, operating a vehicle with defective lights, failing to affix registration plates, talking on a cellphone while driving without hands-free kit and failing to wear a seatbelt.

A further 21 fines were issued for parking and stopping offences.

“We assisted bereaved families by escorting three funerals to different garden of remembrance. We issued 26 fines to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits.”

There were 15 accidents in the area, all of which resulted in damages only. – @CarmenBoksburg
