Taegrin Morris was in the vehicle with his mother and eight-year-old sister outside his grandmother’s house when they were attacked by three armed men on Saturday evening, July 19.

“These three men must be arrested and be jailed for life. What they did to us is very painful,” says Elwin.

“How do you face such people again? They must spend the rest of their lives in jail.”

He appealed to authorities to do everything possible to arrest all those involved in the hijacking, including the man believed to have paid the trio to steal the family’s vehicle.

The father could not hold back his emotions as he described how her son was dragged outside the vehicle.

“My wife, Chantel, grabbed our son to pull him free, but he was stuck in the seat belt.”

“My wife had to watch our little boy being dragged outside the vehicle as the hijackers fled in our car.”

“She ran after them, screaming and pleading for them to stop. Other people also ran after the vehicle, fearful of the child’s safety.”

It appears as if the boy’s head and body may have hit the road as the car was driven away, causing fatal injuries.

The thugs drove towards Boksburg CBD and dumped the vehicle outside the abandoned building at 39 Market Street.

The Reiger Park police have on Monday morning, July 21, confirmed that a man had been taken in for questioning over the incident.

It has not been confirmed if he is part of the trio paid to hijack the car.

Angry members of the community have expressed shock and outrage over the incident.

Hundreds of them spent the whole day on Monday outside the police station, demanding that the police hand the suspect over to them so that they could also drag him down the street.

The police told the angry crowd that the suspect has been detained in Tsakane police station, but the community insisted that they have been waiting outside the station since morning when the suspect was brought in for questioning, but did not see him leaving the premises.

They asked for permission to go inside the station and check, but it was not granted.

According to some residents, the identity of the suspects are known by the community and that they were recently released from prison after serving sentences for different crimes.

“They are known for criminal activities in Reiger Park,” says a resident who wishes to remain anonymous.

“The problem is they get arrested but the following day they would be seen walking away free.” – @FanieBoksburg
