Tony wants to fix Boksburg

Well-known Boksburg businessman, Tony Lubbe, has dubbed himself “Mr Fix-it”.

His plan is to attempt to fix issues that he has identified within the community and to eventually become a councillor.

“Issues such as transport and roads, emergency services and education are at the top of my priority list,” says Lubbe.

He is currently chairperson of three boards, which includes being the chairperson of Mercy Haven, Parkdene Ratepayers Association and the Parkdene Recreation Centre.

“Mercy Haven is a home of safety for abused women and their children. I have been involved in various initiatives to raise funds for the centre,” he says.

To date, Lubbe has spent about R60 000, out of his own pocket, to upgrade and revamp the facilities at the Parkdene Recreation Centre and to ensure that the facility has security to prevent the ongoing cases of vandalism.

“The facility has a tennis court and the grounds are used for various sporting activities by young children and adults alike.”

Lubbe’s passion is to help children and the youth.

“With the help and support of the community, great changes can be made and the government can be held accountable where they are not delivering.”

“Let’s fix Boksburg” is Lubbe’s motto and he doesn’t let an opportunity to help, pass him by.

One such example is of a Boksburg petrol attendant, with no funds, who wanted to study law. He was fortunate to have his studies paid by Lubbe and so today has a law degree.

“My life is dedicated to devising solutions to community problems and helping wherever I can.” – @CarmenBoksburg
