Over R10 000 worth of drugs seized in gang manhunt

Three Angelo men, who are believed to be involved in the sale of illegal drugs, have appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on July 3.

Reiger Park police pounced on the trio in Jerusalem informal settlement, on July 2, during a manhunt for a gang suspected of criminal activities.

The alleged drug dealers were allegedly found in possession of a haul of dagga and nyaope worth an estimated street value of R9 000 as well as R1 800 in cash.

They told the officers that they had bought the illegal substances from Hillbrow, with the intention of selling them on to addicts.

One of them was reported to having said “We can’t find jobs. No income and no hope of ever getting a job. We depended on this work to survive”.

The suspects, aged 22, 27 and 31 were all charged with dealing in drugs, and they are all out on R500 bail.

They will appear again on July 11.
