A woolen winter donation for Epic Foundation

Customers of the Wool Centre went the extra mile in knitting soft toys, scarves and other woolen goodies, which were handed over to the Epic Foundation on Friday, June 27.

Owner of the Wool Centre, Elizabeth Evans, says the donation is part of their annual Winter Drive where they identify charity organisations which could make use of knitted items.

Evans says the initiative is then made possible with the help of customers of the Wool Centre who either buy and donate wool, or knit something themselves.

“Thank you to all the customers for their time and generous donations towards this project,” says Evans.

The Epic Foundation is a crisis centre that empowers survivors of rape and abuse.

The organisation runs a comfort pack project that puts together baby, children, women and men packs that include essentials needed after a rape trauma.

According to one of the centre’s volunteers, Lizettte Celliers, the organisation distributes these packs to Victim Empowerment Centre’s across Gauteng.

“We rely on community members for the items we place in our packs and appreciate every donation,” says Celliers. – @TumeloBoksburg
