Caxton Reynolds Race: winter swimming pool challenge (round four)

This past Saturday, June 28, the contestants in the Caxton Reynolds Race 2014 had to dive deep in a freezing cold swimming pool, on a very cold and windy morning, to earn their points in a race to win a trip to Zanzibar.

The event took place at Caxton East/South headquarters in Boksburg.

The teams had two challenges on this day, one for a spot prize courtesy of Hirsch’s Boksburg and the other challenge for their points in the race.

For each challenge, one team member from each team had to hold their breath underwater in the freezing pool and the contestant who held their breath the longest under water won the challenge.

Team Kempton Express and The Tembisan won both challenges, for the Hirsch’s prize, a Whirlpool cooking oven, and the highest points for this leg of the race.

The winners of this year’s race will win an all-expenses paid trip to Zanzibar, sponsored by SA Reynolds Travel Centre in Springs.

The three teams with the most points by the end of the seventh week of the race will go into the finals, in Springs, on August 2.

Caxton would like to thank the men and women of the Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, from Boksburg, who were on stand-by for any medical or emergency requirements on Saturday.

The next challenge will take place in Joburg South, at Kenilworth Spar, on Saturday, July 5.
