Man convicted for stealing women’s underwear

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Michael Qhualane (39), from Tembisa, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on May 23, to three years imprisonment.

On May 12, the accused stole women’s underwear, to the values of R4 363.04, from Woolworths.

He had previous convictions of theft from May 2011, June 2011 and January 2012.

Magistrate Ryan van Harte presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* George Mathebula (29), from Reiger Park, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on June 6, to three years imprisonment.

On May 15, the accused stole a drill, to the value of R1 780, Steelmate.

He had 11 previous convictions of theft ranging from September 2005 to June 2012.

Magistrate Hans Hanvenga presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* Lethibe Leschke (26), from Lesotho, appeared in court on charges of kidnapping and rape.

He pleaded not-guilty on February 21, was found guilty and sentenced on May 14, to 18 years imprisonment.

On July 13, 2013, the accused kidnapped and raped a 17-year-old girl.

Magistrate Sijren Harichand presided over the matter, and Vuthlari Mulungwa appeared on behalf of the State.

* Fatima Bridar (27), from Reiger Park, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She pleaded not-guilty on May 14, was found guilty and sentenced on June 9, to three months imprisonment suspended for five years.

On February 6, the accused stabbed Eleanor Farmer with a knife.

Magistrate Josias presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Thabiso Mokaba (25) and Solomon Mashabane (24), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on charges of house break-in, two charges of aggravated robbery, pointing of a firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They pleaded guilty to house break-in and not-guilty to the other charges.

Mokaba was found guilty on all charges and Mashabane was found guilty on charges one to three.

On September 11, 2013, the men broke into the home of Ntombi Gumedi, and using a sharp object, took safe keys and a firearm, they then assaulted Nkosanthi Thungwa, pointed the firearm they had stolen, and took her firearm.

Mokaba had previous convictions of house break-in in June 2004, malicious injury to property in September 2005, robbery in March 2007, assault and kidnapping in January 2010 and robbery in February 2011.

Mashabane had a previous conviction of rape from 2010.

Mokaba was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment and Mashabane was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
