The Caxton Reynolds Race kicks off

The Caxton Reynolds Race kicked off on a high note, on Saturday, June 7, at Hirsch's Boksburg.

The eager and energetic teams braved the cold weather all hoping to score high in their first task of the race.

The first trio of tasks the teams had to complete led to some of the teams tying with their scores.

* Balloon Lift

Contestants had to choose one team member to get a balloon inside a washing machine by using their index fingers, keeping the balloon up in the air until they get it in the washing machine to win the task.

* Cookie Face

Contestants had to pick one team member, who had to place an Oreo cookie on their forehead, and by using their facial muscles, move the cookie towards and into their mouth. This needed to be done with four cookies in order to win the task.

* Tissue run

Teams had to remove tissue from a tissue box with one hand, and the first team to remove the tissues from the box wins the task.

The Reynolds Race is based on the popular television series The Amazing Race, and require participating teams to complete various tasks across the East Rand, in order to win the big prize. The next set of tasks will take place on June 14.

The winners of this year’s race win an all-expenses paid trip to Zanzibar, courtesy of the SA Reynolds Travel Centre.

A point system will be used to monitor the team’s performances and to score them accordingly.

The first team to finish a task within the given time walks away with the bragging rights and top points that will be added to their overall scorecard.

The three teams with the most points by the end of the seventh week will all go into the finals that will be held in Springs, on August 2.
