Swimming a lap to raise funds

Hospice Eastrand held their annual fundraiser event “Swim for Hospice” at the Clear Water Fitness Club on Saturday, May 24.

The event included a fun swim where residents could either sponsor a lap or swim as many laps as they could to stand a chance to win prizes.

Gym contracts were up for grabs to swimmers who completed the most number of laps.

Hospice offers a specialised care programme for terminally ill patients and aims to care and comfort rather than to cure.

Caitlin Ashford (12) swam over 20 laps to raise funds for Hospice.

“I love swimming and it’s good to help people that need support from the community,” said Ashford.

A fitness competition was also held by the club as part of fundraising towards Hospice.
