Cable theft leads to Sunward Park power outages

Due to cable theft, Sunward Park’s power has been out since last night.

According to Sunward Park ward Clr Bruce Reid, 33kW cables were stolen from the Eskom substation that supplies the area with electricity.

Eksom has fixed the problem and has started turning on the Ekurhuleni substations.

The S Smit substation has already been turned on, then they will be turning on the Boksburg substation, Boksburg East substation and the Parkrand substation respectively.

“It’s the Parkrand substation that supplies Sunward Park with electricity, and it will take about four to five hours for this substation to be turned on,” says Reid.

One of the suspects has been arrested.
