How to prevent divorce

With the high rate of divorce worldwide, Boksburg couple Shem and Miriam Masongo have written a book titled, How to Prevent Divorce.

The book contains tips based on the success of their 40-year marriage and raising three adult children.

The book was released on March 20.

Shem says the divorce rate is causing young people to have a fear of marriage.

“We wrote this book because of our own observations of what families are going through and how marriages don’t last,” explains Shem.

Shem says marriage is the closest relationship physically, spiritually and emotionally and family is the basis of society.

“Families are breaking down, and this is affecting children. While parents can move on and find new partners, children stay affected and don’t get emotional support,” says Shem.

He explains the topics covered in the six chapters include the effects of divorce on children and parents, responsibilities of parents to each other and their children, dealing with adolescence, challenges faced in marriage, dealing with marriage in old age and retirement, and faith in God.

He says the book is targeted at divorced, married, single people, adolescence and single and step parents.
