Law enforcement raches out to the community

As part of their ongoing project, the Boksburg SAPS and East Rand Mounted Unit Women's Network members recently visited Parkrand Primary School as part of the SAPS outreach programme.

Female members of the two SAPS units along with members of the Victim Empowerment Centre, Boksburg EMPD K9 Unit, and Ekurhuleni Emergency Services visited the school to treat the children to a day of fun and education.

All the departments gave presentation on their roles in the community.

Activities during the visit included fire-fighting demonstration, EMPD K9 Unit demonstrated how the dogs help in crime prevention, children were also educated on who to call if they are in trouble.

The event also featured children’s games, including sack race, tug of war, ball games and others.

The visitors served the children with hotdogs and soft drinks.

A member of the group, Capt Susan Meyer of the Boksburg SAPS, stated that this was one of their various community outreach programmes which will specifically target the upliftment of children and women.

“We have identified other centres to visit, including high schools, old age homes and crèches. This also serves as an opportunity for us to interact with the public and give them care and love,” says Meyer.
