Sanral not taking blame for flooding on Viewpoint Road

In a recent article on the drainage systems on Trichards and Viewpoint roads, which have led to flooding every time heavy rain fall, Sanral has dismissed claims they are responsible.

According to Vusi Mona, general manager of Communications at Sanral, the flooding matter needs to be attended to by the local authority.

Recently, acting metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, said regarding the flooding, Sanral had been working at the intersection.

Gadebe also pointed out that the drainage systems were due for an upgrade.

Mona says the flooding is caused by the stormwater from Trichardts Road draining into two kerb inlets that drain down to a “V” along the N12, before it flows underneath the highway to the river that runs parallel to the highway on its northern side.

“The only construction work we have done in the area is limited to about 400m from the intersection of Viewpoint and Trichardts roads,” says Mona.
