Erwee pockets another Knight of the Year title

Martin Erwee from East Rand Toyota has won his eighth Toyota Automark Sales Executive Knight of the Year accolade.

It is Erwee’s seventh consecutive year for winning this title and he is also the first Toyota master sales executive in South Africa.

The Toyota Knights represent an elite group of sales people who are valuable assets to both their dealerships and Toyota SA.

Not only do they make a significant contribution to the viability, by way of profitability, to their dealerships, but they also promote the image of the salesperson and create aspirational levels for other Toyota sales people.

The 2013 Knights Investiture Ceremony was held at the Wild Coast Sun Resort and Casino in Kwa-Zulu Natal on Saturday, March 15, where the top achievers of the 2013 Knights programme were announced.

This is a remarkable achievement for Erwee, since the entire Toyota network competes for the Knight of the Year title.

“This is the most prestigious award you can get in Toyota,” says Erwee.

Certain requirements need to be in order to be chosen and, although thousands applied, only 20 were chosen as Automark Knights.

“Charity is very important, because Toyota is set on giving back to the community,” says Erwee.

Along the best out of the best is the person who is accepted as the Knight of the Year.

“I am extremely proud and happy for winning this award again. I am still on cloud nine,” says Erwee.

“Just to be a Knight is a big accomplishment itself and to win it is just wow!”

Erwee has been with Toyota for 22 years and it is his 18th year as a Toyota Automark Knight.

For the past three years, Erwee has been an Honorary Knight, a title you receive after participating in the programme for 15 years.

In addition to the award, Erwee won a trip to the 2015 National Automobile Dealers Association (Nada) convention and expo in San Francisco, as well as a trip to Dubai.

“It is not about the trip – it is nice and a bonus – but it is all about the award and the best out of the best,” says Erwee.

Erwee’s goal is to win a total of 10 Knight of the Year titles.
