Man killed in his house while cooking

A gunman shot and killed a 42-year-old man while he was cooking in his kitchen in Ramaphosa.

Police were called to the house at about 7pm on Friday, February 14. They found Johnny Kenny lying on the floor, with three gunshot wounds in his chest.

He died on the scene.

It is unclear whether it was a contract killing or an attempted robbery, but the police say nothing was stolen.

A grieving member of the family told the Advertiser that the man was shot dead in his house in what may have been a hit, by gang members.

According to the family member, Kenny was attacked moment after he arrived at his house, and it’s believed that the shooter followed him to his house.

“We are living in fear of being attacked by gangsters. We demand the police work around the clock to ensure that those behind this killing is brought to book.”

“The family did receive threats from gang members few days before the shooting happened,” claims the resident.

Kenny leaves behind his wife Brenda and their two children aged 11 and 20.

No arrest has been made so far, but a case of murder has been registered at the Reiger Park SAPS.

Police appeal to the public for information that could lead to the arrests of the shooter.
