Three found guilty for possession of drugs

The following cases were tried in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Francois Guyper (23), from Boksburg North, appeared in court on a charge of possession of drugs.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on December 4, and sentenced on January 23, to R1 000 or two months imprisonment.

On November 28, 2013, the accused was found in possession of 0.003g of dagga.

He had a previous conviction of malicious damage to property from November, 2008.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Johannes Mthombeni (23) appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded not-guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 28. The magistrate postponed sentencing for five years.

On December 24, 2013, the accused assaulted Mandla Nkosi by hitting him with a brick.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Mzwaki Gumbi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Tebogo Moseri (23), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 28, to 18 months imprisonment to run concurrently with the current six years he is serving for house break-in.

On April 22, 2013, the accused stole a handbag containing a cellphone and iPod to the value of R2 500, belonging to Splaminah Mpotseng.

He had previous convictions of house break-in from 2010, robbery 2011, Section 36 from 2013, and house break-in from 2013.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Mapaseka Siwela (35), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 27. The magistrate postponed sentencing for five years.

On December 24, 2013, the accused assaulted Aletta Nibira by hitting and biting her.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Phathanana Dumokwae (37), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of possession of drugs.

He pleaded not-guilty, and was found guilty, on January 14, and was sentenced on January 28. The magistrate postponed sentencing for five years.

On Decemebr 3, 2013, the accused was found in possession of 0.004g of dagga.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

*Bright Enyioka (23), a Nigerian national, appeared in court on a charge of possession of drugs.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 24, to R4 000 or two months imprisonment.

On November 9, 2013, the accused was found in possession of 1.03g of the drug meth.

Magistrate Hans Havenga presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Themba Sithebe (35), from Berea, appeared in court on a charge of fraud.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 23, to R4 000 or six months imprisonment.

On October 14, 2013, the accused fraudulently presented payslips, bank documents and personal particulars to an MTN to obtain a Samsung Galaxy Notebook. The documents had been falsified.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Palesa Setshedi, appeared on behalf of the State.

* Nhlanhla Mbatha (33), from Angelo informal settlement, appeared in court on a charge of theft out of a motor vehicle.

He pleaded not-guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on January 24, to two years imprisonment.

On August 9, 2013, the accused stole a stereo, sub and watch out of a vehicle belonging to Divan Gerber.

He had previous convictions of possession of drugs from 2000, and attempted rape from 2002.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Palesa Setshedi appeared on behalf of the State.
