Work underway to restore power at Sunward Park and Freeway Park
Sunward Park and Freeway Park residents have been in darkness since Wednesday December 17.
Municipality says work to restore the power supply interruption in these areas began in the early hours of Thursday morning, December 18.
Municipality says the interruption followed after two feeder cables supplying power to the areas experienced fault.
“Both feeder cables were fixed at 2:15am but one of them failed a test again. Our engineers have since located the fault on the cable that failed the test and are working around the clock to fix it. In the meantime, the municipality will use one cable to rotate power on a three-hour interval between Sunward Park and Freeway Park,” says metro’s Themba Gadebe.
The municipality wishes to apologise to the affected residents and assures them that all is being done to restore the power supply as speedily as humanely possible.
