Court news in brief

The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Mbongiseni Duze (40), from Windmill Park, appeared in court on a charge of kidnapping and attempted rape.

He pleaded guilty on October 6, was found guilty and sentenced on November 19, to four years for kidnapping and eight years for attempted rape, to run concurrently.

On June 7, the accused kidnapped and attempted to rape a four-year-old girl.

Magistrate Kganki Phahlamohlaka presided over the matter and Leon Naude appeared on behalf of the State.

* Thabang Mpcha, from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on October 30, and sentenced on November 20, to 18 months imprisonment.

On October 15, the accused stole goods from a Pick n Pay to the value of R149.99.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Joseph Marks (42), from Gelnvista, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on November 18, to three years imprisonment, suspended for five years, on condition the accused reimburses the complaint the sum of R122 767.

From January 1 to February 28, while the accused was an employee, he stole R180 754 from Auto Pedigree.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Bongani Semelane Cebekhuli (22), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of robbery.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on November 5, and sentenced on November 19, to three years imprisonment of which two years was suspended for five years.

On October 19, the accused assaulted Milda Thasetue and with force, and took a cellphone and purse containing R650 cash.

* Mandla Zulu, from Kathlehong, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on November 12, and sentenced on November 19, to R2 000 or eight months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On October 17, the accused stole two tins of polish, to the value of R63.98, from Shoprite.

* Queenton Oupa Smith (43), from Reiger Park, appeared in court on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on November 18, to R1 000 or two months imprisonment.

On September 21, the accused stabbed Phillow Smith in his left hand.

Magistrate Sydney Bandenhorst presided over the matter and Mbanani appeared on behalf of the State.
