Police set up special team to investigate Siphamandla’s murder

The Brakpan and Boksburg SAPS cluster has set up a joint police team to investigate the gruesome killing of 10-year-old Siphamandla Madikane in Ramaphosa.

The special team of detective consisting of 36 experienced detectives, was set up on Wednesday morning, November 6.

They have already initiated their investigation, as they re-visited the scene; the place where the boy was last seen playing with other children, interviewed people and gathered information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of Siphamandla.

“This investigation is being pursued with energy, and I am confident that the perpetrators of the murder will be brought to book” asserts Sgt Mashudu Phathela, spokesperson for the Reiger Park SAPS.

Siphamandla, who was reported missing in Ramaphosa informal settlement on Sunday, November 3, has been found murdered and possibly raped.

His partially burned and half naked body was found hidden in the bushes in Ramaphosa, with socks stuffed in his mouth and a used condom alongside his body.

The body was discovered by a passer-by who immediately alerted the police.

His horrified parents arrived at the scene and identified their son.

Before his disappearance, Siphamandla was last seen playing with his friends on Sunday, just after sunset.

A missing person’s case was opened on Monday, November 4, at the Reiger Park police station and community members together with the police started searching for the boy.

Police are now requesting assistance from the community to help find the perpetrator.

A case of murder has been registered at the Reiger Park Police Station for investigation. A case of rape could also be added later.
