Open trenches pose a threat to residents
Residents of Sunward Park want action taken against the contractors and officials who dug up trenches on the open veld at the corner of the N17 off-ramp and Rondebult Road.
The contractors left the trenches open, and people feel this poses a danger.
According to residents in the area, the trenches have been left unattended for a while and they demand to know who will be held responsible for mishaps caused as a result of this.
People living in Boksburg South are facing the same problem.
There are several abandoned water pipeline trenches that were left open in Thomas Pringle Street.
Apparently the trenches were dug for pipelines a couple of years ago,but they have not been completed.
Some of the pipes are still lying in front of some of the residents’ gates.
Residents are appealing to authorities to compel the contractors responsible to complete the project and fill these trenches quickly.
At the time of going to press, no comment had been received from the metro about the matter.
