Residents warned to be weary of impersonaters

Homeowners are strongly advised to insist on an identity card when someone claims to be an employee of the metropolitan prior to them gaining entry or commencing work on the premises.

This comes after a resident was allegedly robbed by someone impersonating a municipal reader.

“We have an obligation to ensure that our employees and contractors produce positive identification thus, we request that residents to be vigilant and request positive identification,” says metro spokesperson Sam Modiba.

“If not satisfied, residents have the right to phone the Emergency Call Centre on 011 458 0911 or 10177, or when using cellphones dial 112.”

Other important numbers community members should be aware of include the Ekurhuleni Municipal Service Complaints line 0860 543 000, the SAPS Flying Squad 10111 and their local police station.
