According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, the man was wanted for car-hijacking in Vosloorus.
“His accomplice was wounded and arrested by police and on Tuesday night, September 17, a second man was arrested in Katlehong.”
He says that when the suspect was arrested he was found driving a stolen Toyota sedan.
“The EMPD Community Liaison Unit members cornered the 30-year-old in Katlehong where he was found in possession of the Toyota with a Benoni case number.
“The Toyota was stolen early in this month,” says Kgasago.
Charges on possession of a stolen vehicle and that of an earlier case against the suspect were registered at Dawn Park Police Station.
He is expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.
