Making dreams come true

A girl’s matric dance is a special night and something most girls look forward to their whole school career.

However, many young girls do not have the luxury of getting a new, fancy dress for their special night.

This is something Lisa Britz and friend, Jeanette Halleen, understand far too well.

The women have come together to try make a difference in the lives of five matriculants who cannot finance the costs of their own matric dance.

Lisa and Jeanette have organised a fundraising event as an initiative to raise money and secure sponsors to help get the matriculants ready on their big day.

Boksburg residents are invited to attend the event on September 21, at the Van Dyk Shopping Centre from 10am until 5pm.

The day will consist of food stalls, a wors and braai competition, a cupcake competition, Mr and Miss Van Dyk Park pageant and a local idol competition.

“There are great prizes to be won on the day and all funds raised on the day will go towards making dreams come true,” says Lisa.

“If we are able to raise more money than is needed for the kids, the rest will be used to buy food to donate to the needy.”
