Drugs found at Atlasville taxi rank

Complaints from commuters and community members prompted the EMPD to raid the Atlasville taxi rank recently.

According to Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD, many counterfeit goods and dagga were seized.

“Dagga worth about R2 000 was found hidden in a hole dug in the ground under a tree. Numerous counterfeit caps, T-shirts, flags and cellphone starter packs were confiscated,” he says.

Kgasago adds that among goods removed by the EMPD were sjamboks, sunglasses, clothing hangers and cellphone accessories.

“Informants believe that the dagga dealers sell to scholars, who end up attending classes being high on dagga and causing problems to both educators and fellow scholars.”

Operations such as this will continue to be conducted periodically until by-laws are fully complied with.
