Mom hijacked outside school

A woman was hijacked outside Parkrand Primary School and needed hospital treatment after suffering injuries to her head and ankle following the attack.

The woman was sitting in her car outside the school, waiting for her child, before her car was hijacked just before 2pm on Tuesday, July 30.

A gunman approached the vehicle and held her at gunpoint.

The suspect pistol-whipped the mother, forced her out of the vehicle, before he drove off. No shots were fired.

According to one of the school employees, the mother was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for shock and several gashes to her head.

The child was left stranded after the incident, and neighbours and school employees had to take care of the child for hours.

The severely traumatised mother was expected to go for trauma counselling following the incident.

The school employee describes the hijacking as a dreadful incident.

“There are no words strong enough to condemn the actions of this thug who cares nothing for those who become their victims,” says the school employee.

Brandon Schunke, principal of the school, urges parents to remain extra vigilant, and lock their car doors when waiting for their children.

Police are still hunting the suspect, described as being an Indian man.

They appeal to members of the public to provide whatever assistance they can to the police in bringing this hijacker before the courts.
