Hi-jacking expert empowers women on safety

Hi-jacking expert, Richard Brussow, captivated ladies who attended the East Rand Business Women's (ERBW) July meeting, at the Birchwood Hotel, on July 13, with many of his personal crime stories.

Brussow, from the National Hijack Prevention Academy (NHPA), was the ERBW’s guest speaker and illustrated to those in attendance what they should do in the event that they are being hijacking.

He shocked his audience with some hi-jacking statistics, stories and incidents that at times escalated into robberies.

ERBW president, Susan Noppe, explained that one of the biggest reasons Brussow was asked to speak at the meeting was to educate women on how to protect themselves in dangerous situations, and if at all possible, how to avoid them from ever happening.

“Women are seen as vulnerable and are usually targeted in crimes such as hi-jacking.

“Therefore, it seems like a good idea to have a professional advise women on what to do in such situations,” saidNoppe.

Brussow’s expert knowledge and humour kept the session entertaining and informative all at once.
