The redevelopment of the centre has created over 1500 jobs, with a strong focus on local labour.

Dubbed a ‘home away from home’, the Parkdene Boulevard shopping centre will officially open on October 24, marking a new era of retail and community connection in the heart of Boksburg.

Developed by Abland Property Developers, Retail Africa, the Ellerine Group and Nedbank, this estimated R700-million investment will transform the local retail landscape by providing an attractive shopping experience.

One of the partners, Retail Africa’s Richard O’Sullivan who hails from Boksburg, said he is proud to see the project come to fruition in his hometown.

“This is a special opportunity for my partners and I to bring the latest in modern, contemporary design to a place that deserves the best.
“I grew up in this community, and it’s important for us to give back by creating a space that families can enjoy together,” said O’Sullivan in a statement.

The 32,000-square-meter retail hub with abundant parking and great security will feature popular national retailers and anchor stores, including Checkers Hyper, Dischem, Edgars, and Woolworths, alongside four drive-throughs and a variety of local artisan shops like George’s Bakery.
It will be paired with a selection of home décor, sport, fashion, gifting, beauty, health and pharmaceutical services.

The highly anticipated Parkdene Boulevard shopping centre is set to officially open its doors this month.

Grant Silverman, director at Abland Property Developers, said that Parkdene Boulevard promises a state-of-the-art shopping experience with sustainable features, including solar power and a grey water system. These backup systems will ensure an uninterrupted shopping experience even during planned and unplanned power and water outages.
The centre is in proximity to residential areas, schools and near major routes, including the R21 and Rondebult Road.

More opportunities
The redevelopment of the centre has created over 1500 jobs, with a strong focus on local labour.
Local small businesses (SMMEs) have also been given space to showcase their offerings, ensuring that the development supports the local economy in a meaningful way.

O’Sullivan and Silverman pointed out that they have incorporated all the latest green technologies, from water recycling to energy efficiency.
“This is a centre built for the future, and it reflects our commitment to sustainability.”
The grand opening will feature store activations, and local entertainment to celebrate this significant milestone.
